Dandeli is a small town in the arms of the Western Ghats of Karnataka. It is well known for its wildlife sanctuary, dense forests and natural resources. Over the last few years Karnataka tourism has named it a tourist place — many resorts with varied activities, and much else, are available.
It is also home to wildlife such as black panther, elephants and monkeys, and to many bird species. Hornbills are a pride of Dandeli; they are found in tropical parts of Asia, Africa and Melanesia.
Lush green through the year
Dandeli is well known for its lush green environment; you can find forest green in colour throughout the year. Deep in the jungle, between evergreen shelter, you find the temple caves at Kavala. If you are lucky enough, you may spot a tiger at Kali Tiger Reserve in Anshi National Park country during jungle safari.
Woods, rain and big trees
You can find large trees that set the beauty of the woods; the sunless sky over the canopy makes the forest look dark in the rainy season. The forest around Dandeli is well known for trekking — time with friends and family on a trail that smells of flowers and trees, free from city pollution.

There are several trekking routes in Dandeli. Some of them are:
- Kavala Caves trek
- Kulgi–Nagzari Valley trek
- Potoli–Shiroli trek
These are organised by Kulgi Nature Camp. The treks help you explore Dandeli’s forests — waterfalls, medicinal herbs and many species along the way.
